I had that experience with the very last forum I was on - just Did Not mesh with the mod in charge of the board for my ship. It was actually one of the main things that pushed me to transition to tumblr as my primary way of doing fandom. But by that point, I think forums were already on the decline - if there’d been another active forum for that fandom, I’d probably have moved there instead.
