23 23s in 23

Stealing this from fiachairecht  because it’s such a neat idea! The goal: engage with 23 each of 23 kinds of thing I like in 2023. I have another big year planned and I’ll honesty be surprised if I manage to hit these numbers, but having something intentional and positive to work towards feels very appealing right now.

Categories are a work in progress - suggestions welcome! ‘New to me’ is implied, but I’m claiming some leeway for e.g. music I vaguely know but haven’t listened to attentively, fresh twists on familiar recipes, Greek I read in uni that I’ve since forgotten, etc.

Between this and Fannish Fifty, I might have my work cut out for me! :D This might not fit neatly into a category, but things that make you go wheeeeeeeeeee? (because that icon is just so stinkin' adorable)

And omg, I love it! Will add to the list - it’s basically a miscellaneous positivity category, but with built-in excuses to keep using my cutest icon.

Chocolate and poems both sound like particularly excellent categories. I wish I had an idea for an additional category to add, but inspiration eludes me.

Hah, that’s definitely one of the less likely goals. 😂 If I publish even half that, I’ll feel like I’ve done pretty well - but aim high, right?

I’m been meaning to read more poetry for ages. Figured this was as good a way as any to give myself a nudge. I really don’t need a nudge to eat more chocolate, but what’s life if you don’t enjoy it?

What a delightful list! You've reminded me to add language things to my own list.

Hm, 23 things crafted? Garden signs, or scrapbook pages with Minimonster, that sort of thing? (eta: have no idea if Minimonster is old enough for art projects, but...)

Ooh, I love that idea, I’ll add it! Aside from cooking I don’t think I’ve really made anything physical all year unless you count the small human lololol and I’m always happier when I’m doing things with my hands. Minimonster will probably be as much a hindrance as a help with scrapbooking, but I can get him to add little handprints and finger paintings and things…omg, that’ll be so much fun.

Haha, yeah, it is a lot of things. I plan to treat it as inspirational rather than aspirational - less “oh shit I must get all this done”, more “here’s a pre-prepared list of things I find rewarding that I can turn to when the ‘I don’t know, what do you want to do?’ starts creeping up on me”.

I expect I shall natter about it here every now and then. :D

My brain is still not working THAT well, so my eyes skimmed your entry and read polish counts, and I was like, "Awesome, I know nothing about Polish counts," and then I realized my mistake. 😆

Looking forward to any of your 23! At first it sounded A LOT MORE doable than the Fannish Fifty, haha, but then I thought again, haha.

Thank you! Hmm, I’ll have to think - I probably won’t make it all the way to 23 new authors or even near, but it might be good to encourage myself to branch out!

LOL I almost want to add Polish counts an item now. Impromptu study binge on the nobility of a country I know barely any history of, what could go wrong? 😂

And yeah, I don’t think it’s remotely doable in the sense of me actually hitting my goals. But it’ll be nice to have them in mind! Might get me closer than if the challenge wasn’t there, at least.
