Does he also see something of himself in the meekness of Naboo? Something that he hates more than he hates everything else?
I read this comment at 3am while up with sleepless kids and was very impressed by your astuteness, but then finally fell back asleep and woke again with absolutely NO memory of what you’d said other than this insistent conviction that “Osprey was SO RIGHT last night omg, I’m so excited about how right she was, I have to go tell her how right she was! About…something!”
But yeah, in the light of day I still think you’re very right. 😁 I joke a lot about Kylo being a sub who thinks he’s a dom, but I actually really do think a bunch of his issues stem from being a natural follower who is absolutely convinced - by his power in the Force, by his family legacy, by his own unhealthy ego - that he’s destined to be some kind of great leader. But he has no actual vision to enact and frankly also no leadership skills, and he doesn’t even particularly enjoy being in charge, so instead we see him kind of just glom onto a series of charismatic natural leaders (Han, Luke, Snoke, eventually Rey) only to flounder in his conflicted feelings towards them. Seeing Naboo just happily submit to their “betters” and thrive for it probably hits Kylo in places he is psychologically incapable of admitting even exist…hence, whatever the fuck he thought he was doing with this juvenile, toy soldier version of Palpatine’s Republic vs Separatists masterminding.
