The Descendants movies are my ultimate (not-so-)guilty pleasure. Every song, every costume change, every self-indulgent moment speaks directly to my id. I'm obsessed with the broken worldbuilding and the dystopian implications of a monarchy that just casually banishes all its difficult subjects to Magic Shithole Island where they and their kids and their great-great-grandkids shall rot in eternal penance. I dearly want to know how it goes when the kids take charge and let all the villains back into Auradon with no apparent plans for how to manage the reintegration - something tells me the answer is 'not well'. I want to see the kids grow up, find themselves outside of high school and experience the topsy-turvy world.
I love Harry and Jay as long-time rivals, two enforcer/henchman type kids from the Isle trying to convince the world and each other that their insides aren't butter-soft beneath that muscle. I loved seeing them find tentative common ground in the third movie, and I'd love to see that connection deepen as Harry gets his eyeliner-smudged head around mainland life and develops a personality beyond just being Uma's Lapdog. (I love Uma! By all means keep Uma around! But Harry really needs his own thing too, you know?)

Death cannot stop true love! I honestly expected TROS to kill my dearest rarepair; instead it gave Finn Force powers and opened up a whole wide wonderful world of ghostfucking and redemption possibilities.
I love these two as enemies drawn together by circumstance, as foils to each other's best and worst traits, as lost soul with a shared background in evil doing their best to leave the First Order's influence behind. I love pre-canon stories where stormtrooper!Finn stumbles into his scariest commander's orbit (only to find that maybe he isn't so scary after all?). I love post-canon or divergent stories where Ben defects to the Resistance and Finn helps him find his footing on the new terrain. I love happy endings and bleak disasters and bittersweet could-have-beens. Honestly, if these two are interacting, I'm happy.
Some ideas:
- Ben survives Exegol and helps clean up what’s left of his First Order mess. Finn agrees to work with him for Rey’s sake, but his own feelings about his former commander are a lot more complicated than just ‘yay he’s good now’.
- Ben (alive or as a Force Ghost) takes an unexpected interest in Finn’s Jedi training.
- Pre-TROS or in a First Order wins AU, Finn gets captured and Kylo Ren takes a keen personal interest in his interrogation. (Torture and noncon are good; Finn’s awakening Force powers are good; Kylo’s immense frustration that all his Resistance captives keep manifesting unexpected powers and resisting him is good.)

Configure this threesome however you like! I love established Finn/Poe with Kylo pining from the outside. I love historic Ben/Poe where they've known each other since long before Finn was in the picture. I love background Reylo (or intense platonic Rey & Kylo Force bond) with Kylo/redeemed Ben setting out to make things right with her friends and accidentally catching feelings in the process. I love prickly forced cooperation, stranded-together, allies-by-circumstance type stories. I love love love to linger on how much Kylo has hurt both Finn and Poe, whether it's background baggage in a lighthearted shipfic or an all-out wallow in the horrors of past torture and attempted murder. I love banter and antagonistic not-really-romance.
Some ideas:
- The First Order is defeated and the galaxy is at peace, but Finn and Poe are still haunted by the war. Like, literally. The ghost of Kylo Ren keeps showing up wherever they go.
- TROS missing scene: after Rey flees the Death Star ruins in her stolen TIE, Finn and Poe are approached by an unarmed, dripping wet Ben Solo who wants their help getting to Rey 'before it's too late'.
- Poe has history with Ben from back before he turned to the dark side. When Rey brings a redeemed Ben back from Exegol, that old baggage comes to the fore, leaving Finn suddenly afraid of becoming a third wheel in his own relationship with Poe.
- AU where Ben defects earlier in canon, and Finn and Poe find themselves reluctantly in charge of the new prisoner-cum-Resistance-member.
💙 Ben Solo | Kylo Ren/Tai
So: that 'special bond', right??? I renounce everything I've ever said about Ben the Kissless Virgin, because clearly he and Tai spent many a recess hooking up under the bleachers at Jedi school. Tai is the only person in the galaxy Ben trusts to see him as a person instead of a legacy. And now Tai is gone and there's nothing for it but to renounce his entire past self and become evil. I knew Ben's turn was going to be tragic but I'm still reeling that it turned out so goddamn romantic.
(I also like the precedent it sets of Ben being prone to turning on a dime and changing personalities like clothes for love. He definitely has a little bit of that Rebecca Bunch, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend vibe going on.)
I'd love to know about their temple adventures together and the bond they built along the way! Group assignment where their task is to fly offworld together and find some ancient Jedi treasure? Sparring sessions? Late night conversations and telepathic bby!Jedi intimacy? (Please do make them 18+ if you go the explicit smut route, but I have no objection to T-rated teenage fumbling.) Or, how about their bond after Ben leaves to join the Knights of Ren - is Mimban the first time they've spoken since Ben's flight, or has the Force connected them before and shown Tai flashes of who Ben is becoming? What about the aftermath of Tai's death? Grief, ghosts, spooky darkside resurrection attempts?

There's so much twisted, exploitative potential in this ship that I've been eyeing off ever since I saw it in the tagset. Xue Yang is my favourite remorseless trashfire: his tragic food-driven backstory speaks straight to my lizard brain, and I love his selfish obsession with compensating for the deprivations of his childhood at any cost. I love his cheeky grin, his boyish glee, and his profound spiritual talent that he draws on erratically with no apparent long-term goal in mind. I love how emotionally stunted he is, how he's incapable of empathising with others or even recognising his own more complex feelings. He's an utterly broken person and I want to glory in his brokenness. I'd also love to see what shape he'd take if someone bothered piecing him back together - I imagine it'd be pretty rudimentary, with a few key structural bits missing, but progress is progress.
And poor sweet Wen Ning! He's a fierce tornado of destruction with an utterly guileless heart, easily strong enough to stand against Xue Yang in a fight but helpless against the most basic of his manipulations. It wouldn't take more than a few smiles and a few shared sweets, I don't think, never mind all Wen Qing's sternest warnings. I'd love to see Xue Yang get inside Wen Ning's head while working for the Wen clan, or toy with him while he was a captive of the Jin clan. Dark fluff where the two of them share something nice to eat? Sinister experiments in demonic cultivation? Tentative maybe-redemption fic where being too close to Wen Ning for too long holds an unwelcome mirror up to Xue Yang's many, many character flaws?
