I’m back!
Well, “back” is a relative term - life is still All Baby All The Time, but I’m off my official hiatus and slowly (slowly, slowly) catching up on what I’ve missed. I’d love to hear how you guys have been in the comments, or in DM if you’d rather not share with the class. I’ve missed chatting to you all. ❤️
The break has been good for me, I think. It’s been refreshing to just enjoy media without feeling any self-imposed obligation to have anything to say about it. Not that I don’t still HAVE plenty to say, but I was getting a bit Must Have A Take On This about things I was more naturally inclined to quietly consume and move on from, if you know what I mean. Getting off meme has been an especially healthful step. Don’t get me wrong, I love a lot of things about meme and on the whole I think most nonnies are nice people, but the negatives were starting to outweigh the positives for me. I might stick my nose back in now and then but for the most part I’ll be making that part of my internet fast permanent.
As for what I’ll be posting about: I don’t know? I’m not currently writing fic. One day I’ll do an exchange again, but not until I’m caught up on comments and trust myself to stay that way. My fannish interests are still simmering quietly on the back hob but I don’t expect to have anything burning to say about them. Maybe the occasional fic rec? A lot of what I’m doing with my reading time right now is faith-related - I might make a Christianity filter if anyone’s interested, but I won’t inflict it on anyone who doesn’t opt in. I’ll probably also post under the existing baby filter (if anyone wants to hear me gush about how great my baby is who hasn’t already opted in to that, just let me know and I’ll add you). I’ll blog like normal about any secular stuff I’m reading (authentic, non-forced takes only - no more weird blogging completionism). Possibly a recipe now and then. Maybe some natter about my garden. So the usual, I guess, but just less of it.

I know what you mean about meme, I go on there now and then but I can't keep up on it all the time. At its best it's a lot of fun, but sometimes nonnies are having a day and I can't take the neurosis levels.

Meme makes me cynical, and I don’t like being cynical. Because we’re all anon, it only takes one person spilling their bad mood across a few different threads at once to make it feel like there are assholes around every corner. There’s a lot I miss when I’m away - nonnies can be the funniest fucking people on the internet, I swear - but yeah.

I would be interested in your Christianity filter. (Have you read any C. S. Lewis?)

I was thinking of posting about CS Lewis to inaugurate the filter. :D I devoured most of his apologetics in a gulp quite recently.

I'd be very interested in your Christianity filter! And anything else. Life has been busy here and I'm dealing with some weird health crap, but who isn't? Take care!

Babies are A Lot, it’s true! Mostly it’s in the best way possible, but I’ll admit I do look forward to nap times. We’ve settled into a great routine where he takes his morning nap in his crib while I hustle to get the chores done, then his afternoon nap snuggled up with me in the rocking chair. That’s when I get most of my reading done.
